KAYAKING: Intoduction Day
FUNDRAISER FOR CANCER RESEARCH
Saturday 4th December 2021
Flat water kayaking - A great experience and fun day on the water.
Join us at Bobbin Head for an easy estuary paddle which is suited to the novice and experienced alike and is a great intro to paddling. Take a paddle through a Mangrove forest and see grand sandstone architecture along the way as our paddle takes you up into the backwaters of Cowan Creek to a delightful secluded beach. This is a great place for morning tea and to relax or have a swim. Dependent on conditions on the water, the paddle will cover approximately 10 kilometers. This event has a 7.30am meeting time and is expected to be finished by 1.00pm. Bookings essential.

Activity Inclusions:
Preliminary briefing and instruction where required, kayaks, buoyancy vests (PFDs), dry storage, morning tea plus a lot of fun.

MEETING TIME & PLACE:
Participants are asked to meet not later than 7.30am at the Bobbin Head kayak launch area which is situated on the southern side of the childrens playground.

FURTHER INFORMATION:
Our boats are all two person kayaks and are very stable. This is a 10kilometer paddle which is broken into two parts of 5kilometers each way with a lengthy break on a beach for morning tea (provided). Here you can take a small bushwalk, take a swim or just lol around on the beach before returning to Bobbin Head.
For your comfort you will need clothes that will protect you from the sun, wind or rain depending on the type of day it is. As you will get a little wet while paddling it is essential to have an additional layer to prevent wind-chill or for when we go ashore (we recommend woollen garments or similar). When the weather is warm, swimwear and small towel is recommended. Please keep essential dry gear to a minimum as there is only 20ltrs of dry storage space per person. Store your additional clothing in dry sac or plastic bag. Do not bring backpacks or kit bags. Footwear is recommended for the trip. Aqua socks (preferred, available for $10.00 from most variety stores) or wetsuit boots are best suited (NO thongs). Lastly, you will need a hat, sunglasses, sun-cream (non-greasy), plus a minimum 1litre of water (suggest 2 x 500/600ml bottles). Please keep a change of clothes in car for after the activity. This paddle is very sheltered from the wind and waves. Please do not hesitate to phone us should you have any questions or concerns. Do not use SMS or e-mail within 24hours of the event. For reasons of safety, the paddle may be postponed to a future date due to strong winds, heavy rain and or thunderstorms. Please call before leaving home if you have any doubts as to the activity going ahead. Note1: Like with any outdoor sports, participants will need to sign a risk waiver and acknowledgement before commencing the paddle. Note2: There are no refunds for cancellations made within 48 hours of the event.
